Do you know what a "deedly-bop" is? That might not be how it's spelled, mind...

Aren't those those headbands with the things on springs on them? Or are those Deelyboppers?

They're deelyboppers, but I think that's the only possible answer for the word suggested.

Some friends were trying to convince me that I had invented the word. Perhaps I threw in another syllable, but the important thing is I was referring to a real thing.

I don't suppose "deelyboppers" is a particularly British word, is it? That might explain it...

It seems to be a very British thing, given five out of six people I asked over here knew what it was, whereas none of the Americans I asked did.
